Mrs Kelly Woolgar
Year 7&8 Teacher, Specialist English & History Teacher
BA (Hons) English Language and Linguistics, Post Graduate Certificate in Education, United Kingdom
Briefly describe your career (teaching or otherwise) to date.
I have worked in two very different schools in the UK. I spent four years teaching English in a very big secondary school with over 1500 pupils in Worthing. For the last three years, I have been at at a very sporty independent school near Petworth leading KS3 English and also helping to coordinate the Duke of Edinburgh Bronze award.

Why did you choose teaching as a career and what do you try to instil in your pupils?
For me, communication is fascinating and I think it is so important in life. I love teaching pupils ways to read, write, speak and listen really well. I try to instill empathy, confidence and a love of words in my pupils.

Apart from your classroom teaching role, what else do you get involved with at the school?
I really enjoy poetry recitals and performances. I also love swimming, cross-country running and hockey!

Who or what inspires you?
My brilliant parents. My English teacher Mrs Griffiths. Big mountains. Really passionate speakers and writers. And finally, Beyonce.

Tell us something that not a lot of people know about you.
I played Robin Hood in my year 6 play. I made a big fuss that only boys were invited to audition, and then I got the part! I never carried on with performing arts after primary school, but I often wish I had! I can also make a mean Key lime pie!
